Playing Cards

Oh hey look, a blog post!
It's amazing, I know.
I just get a little picky and I don't wanna post just anything.. but maybe I should once in awhile so I don't have anymore of these huge long breaks and whatnot.

So anyway..
My LDS Marriage and Family teacher gave us this really cool object lesson at the end of one of our classes.
He passed out playing cards to all 121 of us (or however many were actually there that day).

I got a 9 of Spades
And I felt kinda lame 'cause my friend got a King.
BUT THEN
my teacher started talking about his recent trip to South Africa.
(BTW my teacher is Matthew O. Richardson of the General Sunday School Presidency.
He gave an awesome talk in General Conference in October)
He gave a fireside, and some of the people who attended walked four hours to come see him speak.
They then walked those same dangerous four hours back home at night.
He noted that they showed a whole heck of a lot of faith doing that,
and we don't always have opportunities to demonstrate our own faith in such an extreme way.

Instead, we should demonstrate our faith with the cards we are given.
We can't control what cards we get,

but we have complete control over how we play them.

I'm gonna try to do everything I can with my 9 of Spades.
